My paintings are grounded in the tradition of geometric abstraction while courting an emotional and
tactile approach to non-representational painting. Each of the paintings begins with a simple prompt of
a latticed grid. This paired down use of structured form intermingles with intentionally unstable lines,
shapes, colors and textures. There is no clear navigational path as I work. I accumulate lines of
various widths that disrupt and reactivate the initial prompt. I stack lines and bury forms, abruptly
shifting colors and direction and mixing on site. The densely painted surfaces become noisy,
topographical and hyperbolic. The work emerges out of a mixture of play, wandering and critical
